DESCRIPTION:Blue Pelican Gallery proudly features American, mostly local, art gifts and art. The Gallery is located in a Hatteras-style home built in 1950 (some of the wood was salvaged from shipwrecks along the beach), and renovated in 2005 by owners Jennifer and Dan Johnson. "Jenn" is also the resident artist, and her dad, Bill, is most often found behind the counter telling fish stories or teaching visitors about the plant life and sea life found on our island home. Outside, the porch invites you to sit and slow down to our Island pace in comfortable rocking chairs. Inside the Gallery, the heart-pine floors and beaded wood walls and ceilings are a perfect backdrop for many forms of art, showcasing the beauty of the Outer Banks and beyond. Our mission is to create a peaceful yet exciting destination for you to slow down to our Island pace and enjoy the beauty of the beaches, ocean, birds, wildlife, dunes, sunrises and sunsets, and more, that our unique home has to offer. We feature art and artistic gifts in many different media, from small gifts (magnets and mugs) to take home to the person who is babysitting your pet, to large custom wall art and tiles for kitchen and bath instillations, jewelry, pottery, metal, glass, and much, much more. We are a local family-run business, and we believe art should be accessible to everyone. |

DESCRIPTION:Kinnakeet Clay – Studio & Showroom is the newest endeavor of ceramic artist Antoinette Gaskins Mattingly. After eight years of traveling to art shows she has settled into a storefront of her own and brought a wonderful collection of artists and crafters with her. In addition to Antoinette's pottery, often created in the shop's studio space, you will find a refreshing collection of other NC and SC pottery, paintings, prints, photography, handmade soaps, jewelry, skirts, aprons and ornaments – just to name a few. Make a point to stop in and browse our ever changing collection of art and fine craft from local and regional artist. As a bonus you will often catch live hand-building or wheel throwing pottery demonstrations. |
